The Nebraska Physician Assistant Scholarship Fund
- Support exceptional PA students via scholarships
- Advance the PA profession by awarding excellence among PA students
Physician assistants, as professionals, recognize an obligation to help others achieve their life goals. Financial aid for exceptional physician assistant students supports their pursuit of this career and encourages their potential contributions to the profession. This is the mission of the Nebraska Physician Assistant Scholarship Fund.
The Nebraska Academy of Physician Assistants established the Nebraska PA Foundation (NPAF) in 1993. NAPA supported students with scholarships since its inception and felt it was important to develop a foundation to focus efforts in expanding the scholarship programs. The foundation flourished over the years, providing up to ten $1000 scholarships each year. A partnership with the Lincoln Community Foundation provided non-profit status to obtain donations and award scholarships. In 2009, the NPAF Board decided to move the fund to the Physician Assistant Foundation (PAF), the philanthropic arm of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. The PAF provided a better environment for the fund by lowering administrative costs and supporting the PA profession's national philanthropic organization.
