Congressman Lee Terry Introduces PA Resolution

NAPAs Legislative Committee is proud to announce that on July 30th, Rep. Lee Terry (R-NE) joined Rep. Betty McCollum (D-MN) in introducing H.Res 1600, a congressional resolution recognizing the critical role of the PA profession and supporting the goals and ideals of National PA Week. We are proud that a Nebraska Representative has led the effort to gain recognition for our profession at the federal level, however, we need your help! In order for the legislation to advance, at least 100 cosponsors are needed for the resolution to go to the House floor for a vote before PA Week in October.

The Legislative Committee would like to urge all PAs in Nebraska’s Districts 2 and 3 to contact Reps. Fortenberry and Smith and ask them to co-sponsor this resolution supporting our profession. Addditionally, PAs in District 1 are asked to contact Rep. Terry and thank him for sponsoring this legislation and for his continued support of the PA profession at the federal level.

As health care reform continues to evolve, it is imperative that PAs build positive relationships with those who represent us in Washington. Grassroots advocacy is critical part of this relationship, and your personal messages to these legislators will help to ensure that the PA profession has their continued support.

Preventing Influenza in the Workplace

CDC has joined together with key infection control organizations to help Americans fight the spread of infection in health care settings and in the community, and avoid contagious diseases like the common cold, strep throat and influenza.

CDC and its partners urge Americans to fight the spread of infection by taking these three easy steps:

  • Clean your hands
  • Cover your mouth and nose
  • Avoid close contact & stay home if you're sick

For more information, visit the Speak Up™ website for the following resources:

This infection control campaign is part of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations' award-winning “Speak Up” program that urges patients to take an increasingly active role in their own health care
