MEDICAL EFFECTS OF IONIZING RADIATION training

The Center for Preparedness Education is sponsoring MEDICAL EFFECTS OF IONIZING RADIATION training conducted by personnel from the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute (AFFRI).

This two-day course provides military and civilian medical and operational personnel with up-to-date information concerning the biomedical consequences of radiation exposure, how the effects can be reduced, and the medical management of casualties. The course covers:

  • fundamentals of ionizing radiation
  • ionizing radiation interactions with cells and organs
  • diagnosis and treatment of acute radiation syndromes and combined injuries
  • psychological effects of radiation exposure
  • internal radiation contamination
  • radiological defense
  • radioprotection

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Physicians, Nurses, Allied Health Professionals, EMS Personnel

WHEN AND WHERE?

September 17-18, 2011 at the Embassy Suites - LaVista Hotel & Conference Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
This course is offered over the weekend to make it easier for clinical staff to attend.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT

12 CME or CNE credits
3 ACHE credits
